Does your computer lag or does it seem to have any unusual behavior, if it does chances are your computer is infected with a virus. To help you with solutions to computer viruses I have answered some questions people ask me about getting rid of viruses.

1.)Whats is a computer virus?

Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation. A virus might corrupt or delete data on your computer, use your e-mail program to spread itself to other computers, or even erase everything on your hard disk. Viruses are most easily spread by attachments in e-mail messages or instant messaging messages. Viruses can be disguised as attachments of funny images, greeting cards, or audio and video files, this is why most viruses come from downloading movies, music, illegal programs and most of all from pornographic material.

2.)What are other names for a virus?

You may have heard of malware, spy ware, Trojans, trackers, hijackers, ad ware, etc… these are just subsections of viruses.

3.)Symptoms of a virus?

After you open and run an infected program or attachment on your computer, you might not realize that you have introduced a virus until you notice something is not quite right.
Here are a few primary indicators that your computer might be infected:

Your computer runs more slowly than normal,

Your computer stops responding or locks up often,

Your computer crashes and restarts every few minutes,

Your computer restarts on its own and then fails to run normally,

Applications on your computer do not work correctly,

Disks or disk drives are inaccessible,

You can not print correctly,

You see unusual error messages,

You see distorted menus and dialog boxes

You are BOMBARDED with pop ups,

4.)What are some solutions to computer viruses?

The perfect solutions to computer viruses are purchasing a quality virus program, and staying off unwanted sites. Then your computer and your privacy is secured.

5.) What is the best virus protection for me?

Even if you do not have a virus, or already have one, purchasing a quality virus program is the best solution to computer viruses. I have mentioned the best solutions/products for your computer virus problems below.

6.)How easy is it to use the software?

You can have the software downloaded and running within ten minutes. It’s that easy! You can even set it to run regularly – you do not even have to know it’s there. It will just run regularly to clear out new viruses that might have somehow crept in.

7.) Why should I pick any of these virus protection programs?

Well that is a good question. What is special about these programs is that they attack viruses before the virus attacks your computer. Compared to Norton Anti virus, which lets the virus attacks the computer and then kill the virus and go after its sources. The negative about this is, if u let the virus install it self, its almost impossible to kill its roots. Also the programs I have listed below have real time protection. Real time protection is denying the virus from entering your computer, therefore you can surf any website you want.

8.) Okay, but still, why should I pick these programs? (convince me more)

Alright, well Big brand name programs such as Norton or Mcafee, come out with new editions each year, which means that you need to buy the latest version in order to keep up with the virus world. In comparison the programs i mention, you do not need to but the new version every year, the programs virus definitions are auto updated. Also these programs are a lot more affordable than brand name programs. THE PROGRAMS GET THE JOB DONE!!

My computer had been attacked in the past, it deleted all my work from my computer, i could have lost my job!, So i took the extra step and purchased all of theses programs. If you are confused or not sure with program suits you best, all these programs offer free trials. Hope you found questionnaire about solutions to computer viruses helpful, you can learn more at:

We’ve all heard the cliché “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” This is as true on the Internet as anywhere else. Adware and spyware programs, also called malware or trackware, infect 9 of out 10 Internet-connected computers. Spyware can slow your computer to a crawl, corrupt your hard drive, or expose your private information. The most common way it gets on your computer is when you are downloading something else that claims to be free.

What is spyware and how did it get on your PC?

  • Adware and spyware programs, also called malware or trackware, quietly and secretly monitor everything you do online, and can communicate your activities to a third party such as an online advertiser.
  • Spyware is commonly installed on your PC as a hidden addition to a legitimate program, by visiting websites, or through spam email.
  • Unlike the instant impact of a virus, well-written spyware and adware programs never reveal their presence on your PC.
  • Pop-up ad problems, a different homepage that you can’t change, and a slower PC or online experience are indications of a spyware problem.
  • No one is immune from Spyware infection. A recent study by EarthLink and Webroot found an average of 26.5 spyware and adware traces per SpyAudit scan.

Where does spyware come from?

Spyware is software that collects personal information from you without first letting you know what it’s doing and without letting you decide whether this is OK or not. The information spyware collects can range from all the Web sites you visit to more sensitive information like usernames and passwords. You might be the target of spyware if you download music from file-sharing programs, free games from sites you don’t trust, or other software programs from an unknown source.

Spyware is often associated with software that displays advertisements, called adware.

The extra processing required to track you or to display advertisements can tax your computer and hurt your system performance.

What are the signs that your PC is infected with spyware?

  • Your homepage is reset to an undesirable website change it back.
  • Problems with pop-up ads.
  • Slower than usual PC performance or Internet access.
  • Redirected web search results.
  • Strange additions to Favorites list or start-up menu.

Over the past several years in the course of repairing countless numbers of computers, IT professionals have identified thousands of spyware files, folders and Registry keys. Here’s a list compiled by experts of Do’s and Don’ts for protecting your systems from spyware and viruses.

Do

  • Run up-to-date anti-virus software. We recommend Kaspersky Internet Security(TM) or Kasperksy Anti-Virus(TM) (www.kaspersky.com).
  • Run up-to-date Spyware monitoring software, such as SpySweeper(TM) (www.webroot.com).
  • Update the above-mentioned software manually if you are a dial-up user.
  • Clean off temporary Internet files from your computer.
  • Be wary of files you download off the Internet.
  • Supervise children – sites they visit and files they download.
  • Download music using legitimate pay-for-music distribution sites such as Napster, Rhapsody and iTunes.
  • Have your system maintained by a certified IT professional every 3-4 months to insure your investment lasts 3-5 years.

Don’t

  • Download any type of free file-sharing utility (music, games, applications) such as KaZaa, Limewire, Bearshare, P2P, Grokster and Morpheus.
  • Click on any type of pop-up advertisement – always close them immediately using the “X” in the upper right corner of your browser window.
  • Accept email attachments from people you do not know.
  • Download freeware and shareware (free programs on Internet) unless you know they are from a legitimate company.
  • Ever allow website install ‘plug-ins’ to your Internet browser unless they are from a legitimate company such as Macromedia or Real.
  • Open files with which you are not familiar or did not personally create.
  • Download and run anti-spyware or anti-virus tools without consulting your local IT professional first.

Spyware

What is Spyware? Spyware is computer software that is installed and consequently retrieves information with malicious intent from your computer. It is called Spyware because it will install itself and collects information without your knowledge or consent, installing advertising-related devices that track your Web surfing habits or generate targeted advertising content. Often you have consented to a program being installed without reading the fine print, or you have opened an email without paying attention to who the sender is.

Spyware will track your computer through a variety of tracking techniques: Key logging;
records your keystrokes, invariably leading to theft of personal information, i.e. credit card information, financial information and passwords. Spyware also changes the functioning of your computer, slowing down your computer’s system resources and internet bandwidth. Spyware will also record internet browsing history, tracking the pages you have visited. Spyware will imbed software that scans documents on your computer. In turn the information is reported back to the source using the information as they see fit, sometimes selling your information to people willing to purchase, usually an internet marketing or pornographic company. Also, collecting your email address to send you spam (junk email).

Spyware applications are often bundled without your knowledge from freeware or shareware programs that are downloaded from the internet, so you have to be extremely careful when extracting these programs onto your computer.

Spyware has reached epidemic proportions leading to a revolution of an industry where the choice of programs to use that will eliminate Spyware occurrences becomes difficult to choose from.

Adware

Adware Is much like Spyware and sometimes work hand in hand, where it spies on you with the intent of making pop-ups appear on your screen based on the information you enter when browsing. Forcing you to an advertisers website you did not request, even if you have your pop-blocker enabled, you will still see these critters appear. Adware is still a malicious code that embeds itself into your files.

Spyware is a nuisance to say the least and is a great security threat to your computer, which can often result in data loss, system file changes to the operating system which can disable certain functionality of your computer and generally limit the use of your computer. However, the risks can be managed with a variety of anti-Spyware tools many of which are available for free.
